As a teenager Sharon spent several years immersed in the teen pop world, recording for the ubiquitous LaFace/Arista records in Atlanta (GA) with the group Choice along with international pop artist PINK. During this time, she worked with Grammy award winning R&B/Pop artist's Babyface & Boyz II Men, and producers Darryl Simmons and L.A. Reid, among others. This was a time of great learning and transformation for her.
Being so very young and passionate about music, she sought out a much different kind of journey than the one she had known up to that point. Sharon began to fall deeply in love with great lyricists and composers, as well as “singer’s singers” like Billie Holiday and Shirley Horn, and also the unique voices of artists such as Emmylou Harris, and Tom Yorke of Radiohead.
For her early "jazz education", it was mostly priceless on-the-job learning with some of the best musicians in her hometown. In 2010, Sharon relocated to Wilmington, DE and recorded her first CD, Comfort Me, as a duo collaboration with guitarist/pianist/arranger and now husband E. Shawn Qaissaunee. They are currently working on a new recording that will include several other instrumentalists from the Philadelphia area.
