The ZTKM Quartet
The ZTKM Quartet
Zephyr Kremer is a saxophonist, pianist, composer, arranger and educator. Inspired by musicians such as Paul Motian, Ivo Perelman and Immanuel Wilkins, he has been fueled by his own compositions and arrangements to start the ZTKM Quartet. Each member of his group is challenged to create raw and spontaneously.
Zephyr Kremer has been a member of the Jazz community in Philadelphia for over a decade. His journey into Jazz began at the age of fifteen in Upstate New York with Brooklyn-based Jazz pianist and professor Bruce Barth. Later, he moved to Philadelphia to study Jazz Performance at Temple University.
His group, the ZTKM Quartet, showcases his organic approach to composition and performance. He leads the quartet on alto saxophone alongside a rotation of accomplished Philly musicians, allowing the music to convey ubiquitous messages and emotions inspired by modern Jazz and post-bop. When he is not performing with the ZTKM Quartet, Zephyr teaches piano, saxophone, flute, and clarinet both privately and publicly through Settlement Music School and Meridee Winters School Of Music.
Zephyr received his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from Temple University in 2018. He has performed at venues such as South Jazz Kitchen, the Jazz Gallery and NotSoLatin, and has shared the stage alongside many talented musicians, notably Gerald Veasley and Tyshawn Sorey. Zephyr uses moments of stillness, self-reflection and listening to integrate various parts of himself into his compositions.
