Larry Shaw Trio

Larry Shaw, coming from Wyoming, now calls Philadelphia home where he teaches private lessons, teaches music at Mastery Charter Schools - Shoemaker Campus, and performs professionally with others in the area. Shaw aims to bring his understanding of music and life from Wyoming as a new perspective to the iconic scene of Philly.

As a performer, Shaw has the pleasure of performing with notable musicians inside and outside of school settings such as professional orchestral percussionist Doug Perkins, jazz saxophonist Greg Osbey, Snarky Puppy’s and Ghost Note’s percussionist Nate Werth, jazz trumpeter Terell Stafford, jazz pianist Ben Markley, jazz pianist Micah Graves, and jazz pianist Tim Brey. Shaw also travels nationally to perform and has had the pleasure to appear on stage at Tippet Rise Art Center in Fishtail, MT; Dazzle Jazz and Nocturne in Denver, CO; Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola in New York, NY; Black Dog Cafe in St. Paul, MN; and finally Chris' Jazz Cafe, South Jazz Club, and Time in Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, Shaw composes his own music and coordinates his own groups to play his music. Aside from jazz, Shaw has years of experience performing from classical orchestral settings to modern day contemporary music.

As an educator, Shaw not only teaches private lessons, but also has experience teaching in classroom settings. Shaw currently runs the music program at the Shoemaker location within the Mastery Charter Schools Network where he teaches music theory and music production. Shaw also frequently appears as a guest clinician at middle and high schools.
