Ensemble Arts Philly All-City Jazz Fellowship

Josh Lawrence is a jazz trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and educator living in Philadelphia where he is on faculty at the University of the Arts and Drexel University.

Lawrence has three solo albums under his name, has recorded as a sideman with Erykah Badu and Boyz II Men, and performs with pianist Orrin Evans’ Captain Black Big Band , bassist Anthony Tidd’s PACT, saxophonist Bobby Zankel & the Warriors of the Wonderful Sound, guitarist Matt Davis’ Aerial Photograph, drummer Francois Zayas, and singer Venissa Santi.

Experience the heart of Philadelphia’s jazz scene at Chris’ Jazz Cafe with the Ensemble Arts Philly All-City Jazz Fellowship. This special event features the finest young musicians from the Philadelphia School District, including students from Central High School, Girard Academic Music Program, Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush, and the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts.

Hosted by acclaimed trumpeter Josh Lawrence, the evening will showcase guest performances by Jazz Fellowship teachers Luke Carlos O'Reilly (piano), Steve Beskrone (bass), and Byron Landham (drums). The student ensemble, featuring Elijah Booker (drums), Simon Church (piano), Jacob Dennis (tenor saxophone), Emma Jimenez (voice), and Lily Toner (bass), will perform a dynamic mix of jazz classics by Thelonious Monk and Horace Silver, as well as original student compositions.

Premier Tables:
The best seats in the house positioned directly in front of the performance stage (marked dark blue on the seating map).

Standard Tables:
Clear and unobstructed views of stage (marked purple on the seating map). A few tables have a partially obstructed view (marked light blue on the seating map).

Cocktail & Bar Area:
Seating at high-top tables and at the bar area available on a first come, first seated basis (marked green on the seating map). Tables may be shared for sold out shows. Two TV monitors with live video feed of the performance are conveniently located above the bar and cocktail areas.
