Nick Lombardelli Quintet

Nick Lombardelli is a Philadelphia-based trombonist, composer, and arranger, who currently teaches at Temple University.  Nick’s interest in composing and arranging originated from his time as a student at The University Of The Arts, which has led to opportunities writing and arranging for Cynthia Erivo, Adam Blackstone, The Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia, The Philly POPS, Elliot and Brad Mason, and more.  In 2024, Nick arranged the Star Spangled Banner for Super Bowl LVIII alongside Adam Blackstone. Nick has also had opportunities to perform with artists like Cory Wong, Ben Folds, Jamie Cullum, Adam Blackstone, Nestor Torres, Pablo Batista, and Larry McKenna.  His debut album Secret Suite explores a territory between hard bop and classical music, heavily inspired by musicians like Miles Davis/Gil Evans, Freddie Hubbard, Shostakovich, and Ahmad Jamal.  Secret Suite is a five-movement jazz suite that combines through-composed orchestrations with improv-based tunes.  Nick recently released his next album Never Home for a chordless ensemble, inspired by hard bop bands led by Max Roach and Booker Little, as well as the music of avant garde players like Woody Shaw and Eric Dolphy.  Nick regularly performs jazz, rock, pop and more throughout the area with bands like Atomic Fizz, Nik Greeley And The Operators, Chris Oatts Pretty Big Band, his own band, and more.
