The Ben Singer Band

Drummer and Composer from Philadelphia PA, Ben believes the art of music and drumming as a high form to express power, grace, truth in God's creation.

Starting from an early age, it quickly became apparent that it was not 'just drumming,' but a way to process our complex world and contextualize our environment.

Since 9, Ben has been obsessed with the emotional language of music, specifically through motion in rhythm, leading him to study and interact with many music traditions including Middle Eastern percussion (Under Joey Tayoun) Traditional American rudimental drumming (Under Hoagy Wing) West African Percussion and Afro-Cuban percussion.

Ben is drawn to the lineage of Jazz music, involving himself at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts as a teenager, under director Lovett Hines. Here, he met a peer group that were expanding what was possible in music, and are continuing to do so to this day.

Ben Is formally educated at Temple University where he studied Jazz percussion, theory and arranging.

Ben has performed professionally with artists including: Tim Warfield, Joshua Lee, Chelsea Reed, Daud El Bakara, James Santangelo, Yesseh Furaha-Ali, Candece Hoyes and Jack Saint-Clair, as well as in informal settings; working a wide variety of club dates and cruise ships.
